How The Boat Battery was Born.
The Boat Battery has been a long awaited solution, to easily installing Lithium power storage on to Canal boats, without all the associated niggles or faults that have frustrated us for too long. We have designed The Boat Battery to include all the components that would normally take up a lot of time, Knowledge and space to install.

With Over 8 years experience installing and living with lithium in off grid applications along with our drive to make the perfect install, The Boat Battery workshop was built and now, 2 years in to development, The Boat Battery is perfected.

The Boat Battery uses a world leading REC BMS that safely shuts down all charging sources, most importantly the alternator. The REC BMS has a wifi module that can be accessed remotely in the unlikely event that technical support is needed. It also boasts A Grade EVE cells that are compressed for longer cycle life and can be replaced after their 6000 or more cycles, an estimated 15 years.

The system is designed to be plug and play, preprogramed and clearly labelled, so that a boat engineer can install the unit themselves with the connection cables supplied, we can modify your existing alternator to be compatible, or simply supply a new one.

Once the unit is plugged in to the Victron Cerbo GX, you can see the precise state of charge, cell voltages, temperature and even the health of the battery.

The Boat Battery 12/560
Set up for 12v this 7.5kwh pack has 560ah of usable capacity, with the Mastervolt Alpha pro regulator and all main fuses/busbars built in.
The Boat Battery can be safely isolated from a small remote switch that can be positioned in a location of choice, it will shut down the entire system including solar power.

The Boat Battery 24/280
The 24v version has the Same 7.5kwh of storage as the 12/560. Configuring your system to a higher voltage will achieve twice the power from charging units, for example a 200a 12v alternator that charges at 2200w, the same alternator at 24v will charge at 4400w, charging twice as fast bringing engine run times down. Solar charge control units will also be capable of producing twice the power for the same size unit.

The Boat Battery 48/280.
The 48v version has 15kwh of usable capacity, this amount of available power will be suited to very high demand applications like electrical propulsion or vessels with very high demand, similar to that of a 3 bed house. We have fitted these units to fully electric boats that run electric drive, gas and diesel free boats, we even have two of these on a system that is also running a 5 person hot tub from the solar!
